As a community mental health nurse, I wanted to understand the burgeoning problem of homelessness. From a policy level, how is that such an endemic is studied? Who looks/reviews the information and thus, recommends changes in policy to ease accerss to government supports?

I am most impressed with the level of diversity among the participants, presenters, and community members. We often give “lip service” to diversity in the U.S., but Canadians have opened my eyes to true diversity and acceptance of fellow people. Thank you for the experience and I look forward to the next CU Expo!

    Themes…themes….
For me it is just exciting to see a dynamic group of people who are passionate about creating change, are very realistic about what can be accomplished, but still retain a healthy sense of optimisim and possibility. I came to learn more about asset mapping and community mapping and I have been lucky enough to meet the go-to people in that area who have all been so approachable and easy to engage with.
I have been to conferences where I have been excited by what the energy or the information presented, but I found that there was no momentum or action that resulted afterwards. With CUexpo, I feel that people are not only talking in different ways, but also thinking and living in different ways. This conference is giving me lots of energy to move forward, but also a real paradigm shift that will stay with me.
    Thank you!
